Tenho um cão Bouvier Bernois com 3 anos;
De todos os cães que tive, todos eram mansos e nenhum me deu problemas devido a agressividade, o Bernois é sem dúvida o mais pachola, o mais dócil, chega a enjoar.
Estes cães são assim, gostam de pessoas, de outros animais, de brincar, de explorar, de conviver como mais um membro da família. São uns grandalhões de coração de mel; os suissos, seus conterrâneos originais, chamam-lhes "os potes de cola" devido à forma insistentemente apegada como eles se relacionam.
Já dos seres humanos não se pode dizer a mesma coisa... Muitos são predadores agressivos, assassinos, sem compaixão ou consciência das consequências dos seus actos.
Outros não...
Acabei de ler uma notícia que me deixou a perguntar "porquê?". Não consigo entender. Da mesma forma que me ultrapassa o que pode estar subjacente a crimes, estes ficcionais mas poderiam não ser, tão tortuosos quanto os que encontramos em séries inteligentes como a "Mentes Criminosas".

Os cães não o atacaram, nem a ninguém, nem sequer nenhum dos seus animais, apenas tinham entrado na sua propriedade minutos antes porque um ramo de árvore caiu sobre a cerca que delimitava a propriedade derrubando-a. Não destruíram fosse o que fosse nem evidenciaram qualquer sinal de perigo.
Não consigo entender. Não seria mais natural que chamasse os donos e recambiasse os cahorros para casa? Ou até que os levasse? Pois, mas não. Nem sequer sequer tentou afastar os cães gritando ou de qualquer outra forma, conforme ele próprio admitiu à polícia.
Tinha a arma à mão, teve a oportunidade de matar e matou, assim, sem mais.
Teve vontade de matar e matou.
Provavelmente pensou que sairia impune...
A isto chama-se um assassino, independentemente de quem seja o alvo, a "marca" está lá.
Se me restassem dúvidas seriam resolvidas após ler que este bandalho deixou uma mensagem no telefone de um vizinho vangloriando-se de ter morto os cães.
Por todas as razões e mais uma, ainda bem que os cães não eram meus... Que vida complicada este gajo iria ter durante anos...
E agora a questão fundamental; não a mais triste nem a mais revoltante mas aquela que é fundamental ter em mente: à luz da lei o que acontece a um tarado destes?
Isto passou-se nos E:U.A., em Chester County, Pennsylvania. Segundo Tom Hickey Sr., membro do grupo de aconselhamento do Governador para as leis relativas aos cães , as acusações que pesam sobre Pilotti demonstram que as leis vigentes no Estado são fortes ainda que possam ter imperfeições:
Os donos dos cães assassinados irão reunir-se com o senador Andy Dinniman (D., Chester) a fim de que as acusações resultem numa nova lei que proteja os cães vitimas de casos semelhantes.
Que leis temos nós que protejam os nossos animais, os mais inocentes e dóceis, de um qualquer tarado que se resolva a mata-los, tortura-los, maltrata-los, abandona-los, aprisiona-los em espaços diminutos durante tempo sem fim?
Há bem pouco tempo segui o caso de dois cães que estavam abandonados no jardim de uma vivenda do bairro de Alvalade onde o dono deixara de residir. Durante meses e meses a fio estes animais, deixados sós ao frio e ao calor subsistiram graças à compaixão de um Senhor, de meios económicos muito limitados mas com um coração do tamanho do mundo, que lhes levava alimento e água diariamente.
Foi contactada a Sociedade Protectora dos Animais, a União Zoófila, foi lá a polícia... Nada a fazer porque «os animais não apresentavam sofrimento aparente nem pareciam representar risco social e estavam em propriedade privada».
O que é isto?
Há anos um vizinho de um amigo meu deu carne com vidro moído a um cão porque este tinha entrado no seu jardim e destruído um canteiro de flores. O pobre bicho foi morrer à porta do dono desfeito em sangue.
Não aconteceu nada ao assassino, o criminoso foi o cão que destruiu bens alheios e o dono foi condenado a pagar o canteiro...
Obviamente que nunca mais nasceram flores naquele jardinzeco que aparecia coberto de sal e lixívia...
Mas lei que condene uma mente criminosa? Aah, isso é muito complicado...

«Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan said Friday that Gabriel Pilotti, 72, was charged with cruelty to animals and recklessly endangering another person.»
"We're happy that justice was served," said Mary Bock, a member of the family that owned the dogs. "I'm still focused on making sure this never happens again. This is less about torturing Mr. Pilotti for what he did then about making changes for the future."
Initially, Pilotti told police he got his shotgun and buck shot shells from his garage at about 11:20 a.m. on Feb. 12, after looking out his kitchen window and seeing the Bernese mountain dogs in his pasture chasing his sheep.
The dogs, 2-year-old Fergus and 1-year-old Fiona, were the pets of Mary and William Bock and their five children. Mary Bock said Thursday that the dogs normally stayed in their enclosed backyard, but a tree limb had fallen and collapsed part of the fence allowing the dogs to get out. They ran through yards along the street behind the Bocks until they reached Pilotti's property. They probably had not been out of their own yard for more than 15 minutes when the incident occurred, she said.
If the dogs had been pursuing the sheep, Pilotti's actions would have permitted under Pennsylvania's dog law, the district attorney's office said. .
But West Vincent Township Police said Pilotti admitted the older dog was not close to any sheep, but trotting slowly toward him when he fired his shotgun, hitting the dog in its head.
Directly behind the dog and in the line of fire was a house with residents home - facts that spurred the endangerment charge.
After shooting the first dog, the police complaint says, Pilotti reloaded his shotgun and took aim at second dog, which was emerging from another part of the pasture.
He shot the dog as she was running away from him and the sheep," the complaint says. "The dog fell, got up and ran for a distance and then fell over and died. The defendant advised that there were no sheep near the female dog as it tried to run away."
None of the sheep were harmed by the dogs, police said, and Pilotti acknowledged that he did not attempt to yell at them or chase them away before shooting.
"There was no justification for the killing of these two dogs," said Hogan. "The defendant has been charged and will be dealt with appropriately. Our sympathies go out to the family and children who lost their beloved pets."
Pilotti has not made a public statement since the incident and on Friday, a recording at his home phone number said it was out-of-service.
Since publicity over the shootings, including the release of a telephone message Pilotti left for a neighbor in which he sounded as though he were gloating about killing the dogs, people have posted messages on a Facebook page established for the dogs, that encourages people to harass Pilotti. One woman went to his house and shouted, "dog killer, dog killer," according to next-door neighbor, Dr. Robert A. Boden.
Mary Bock said she and her husband still would be meeting with State Sen. Andy Dinniman (D., Chester) to see if their were changes that could be made to the law to make it less of a shield for shootings lie the one that took their dogs.
Chester County resident Tom Hickey Sr., a member of the governor's dog-law advisory group, said the charges show that the state's dog laws are solid, if imperfect. "In Pennsylvania, we had the laws in place to protect these animals," Hickey said. "What this guy did was horrific and illegal.
"Finally the laws caught up with him."
